How to Use Weave

From installation to your first tracked series — everything you need to know in one place. Most users are up and running in under two minutes.

1

Install the extension

Click Add to Chrome on the Chrome Web Store page. Chrome will ask you to confirm the permissions — review them and click Add extension. The Weave icon will appear in your extensions bar.

💡

Works on Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave. Any Chromium-based browser that supports Chrome Web Store extensions will run Weave.

2

Open the extension and complete setup

Click the Weave icon in your extensions bar (or pin it for easy access). On first launch, a short setup wizard appears — it asks about your viewer preferences so Weave can personalise your experience. You can skip any step or redo setup later in Settings.

You can start as a guest immediately — no account required. An account option is available if you want to sync your library across devices in the future.

Browse any supported site — auto-detect does the work

Navigate to a supported streaming or reading site (Crunchyroll, MangaDex, HIDIVE, Webtoon, and 80+ others). Weave detects the title on the page and shows a small banner: "Would you like to track this media?"

Click the banner (or the Track button in the popup) to add it to your library instantly. Weave auto-fills the title, type, and any metadata it can find.

Or add entries manually

Click the + Add button in the popup or full library to open the entry wizard. Fill in the title, choose a media type (Anime, Manga, Manhwa, Movie, TV Show, Light Novel, and more), set your current episode or chapter, and save.

You can also paste in alternate titles (romanised and native script) to help Weave match cover art from AniList, MangaDex, or other sources.

5

Update your progress

In the popup's Latest Tracked list, each entry has a play/read button on the right. Tap it to increment your episode or chapter count by one. Tap the edit icon to open the full entry and make larger changes — jump to any episode, change status, or add notes.

Status options: In Progress, Planned, Completed, On Hold, Dropped, and Won't Engage.

6

Explore your full library

Click the grid icon in the popup header to open the full-screen library view. From here you can:

  • Filter by type (Anime, Manga, Movie, TV Show...) and status
  • Sort alphabetically (A-Z, Z-A) or by recently added
  • Switch between CoverFlow arc view and grid view
  • Search your entire collection by title, author, or genre

Earn XP and level up

Weave awards XP automatically as you track progress. Common XP events:

  • Marking an episode or chapter as watched/read
  • Completing a series (+30 XP)
  • Completing all seasons of a series (+50 XP series bonus)
  • Catching up to the latest release (+15 XP caught-up bonus)
  • Completing a milestone survey (+25 XP per survey)

Your XP bar is shown at the top of the full library. Reach new levels to unlock titles and badges.

8

Take milestone surveys (optional)

At certain episode and chapter counts (3, 5, 10, 20, and every 15 after that), Weave may ask how you are enjoying a title. These surveys are always optional — you can dismiss them at any time — but answering earns +25 XP.

A star icon on any entry in the popup means there is a pending survey for that title. The full library also shows a banner when surveys are ready.

Survey responses are stored locally and are never sent to any server. They are used only to inform your personal media ratings within the extension.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Weave work without an account?

Yes. You can use the full extension as a guest — add entries, track progress, earn XP, and use all features. An account is optional and will be useful in a future update for cross-device library sync.

Where is my data stored?

Everything is stored locally on your device using chrome.storage.local and IndexedDB. Nothing is sent to a server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What if a site is not on the supported list?

You can always add any title manually using the + Add button. Auto-detect only works on whitelisted sites, but manual entry supports any title regardless of where you watch or read it.

Can I import my list from MyAnimeList or AniList?

Import from external lists is on the roadmap. For now, entries can be added manually or via auto-detect.

Does Weave work on Firefox or Safari?

Currently, Weave is built for Chromium-based browsers: Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave. Firefox and Safari support may come in a future release.

I found a bug — how do I report it?

Use the feedback link on the Chrome Web Store listing page, or contact us through the Settings panel inside the extension.
